1、半线性椭圆的极小极大定理的数值逼近

摘要:Nonlinear elliptic equations arise naturally in physics, engineering, andmathematical biology. It is known that such equations may have multiplesolutions. In this talk, we first give a brief introduction of minimaxtheorems, and then present the numerical implementation of the Mountain PassTheorem and numerical implementation of the Linking Theorem. In the second halfof this talk, we will discuss the existence of sign-changing solutionsreflecting domain symmetries, and present the numerical algorithms forsolutions reflecting domain symmetries.

 摘要:Suspension bridges are a common type of civil engineering structures. In thistalk, we first discuss the mathematical modeling of suspension bridges, andthen discuss the existence of multiple nonlinear periodic oscillations byapplying the Mountain Pass Theorem and a variational reduction method.

摘要:In this talk, we first give a brief introduction of topological degree theory,and then discuss the existence of multiple large amplitude periodic oscillationsand traveling waves in suspension bridge systems by applying the Mountain PassTheorem and the Leray-Schauder degree theory.
